MUSICAL COMPOSITION
In the IA, you are able to pursue what you are curious or passionate about. The independent project allows you to come up with a project that is challenging enough to follow throughout the course of an entire semester. For my project, I chose to branch out my abilities in music into something new: composition.
Creating a piece of music proved to be more challenging than I had initially thought. The sudden lack of ideas, time-management, creating a mood and staying with it, and more truly pushed me to my limits. However, I persevered and was able to end up with a three-page solo composition for piano.Â
Though many things could've gone better, this project is something that allowed me to see music in a new way.Â

For my second semester of IA, I decided to take on another creative task. This time, I wanted to write my own short story. Here, I told the story of a young adult called George. His life has been full of downhill slopes and constant disappointments. After submitting himself to an experiment where he is put in a physical manifestation of his mind, he meets his terrible Alter Ego, the root of all his self-hatred and disdain. It's up to him to see if he has the will in him to defeat him. Will he rise above the negative thoughts that plague his mind? Or will he collapse under the strain of years of despair?
